Re: How to remove DSG gaitor?
Yes the cable can be adjusted but there is no need to lift the Gearshift gaitor. The adjustment is in the engine bay on top of the gearbox.
If you want to lift the gaitor surround, the frame as shown should be lifted. The gaitor material and its mounting frame inside the chrome surround can be easily damaged if separated. Use plastic tools to prise the front lip of the main frame. Prise up and away from the centre console frame edge just behind the row of switches.
To adjust the DSG control cable, there is an adjustment at the DSG gearbox end (6 or 7 spd DSG). Put the DSG shift into 'P', check the gearbox is in 'P'. Jack the car up with handbrake on so both front wheels are able to spin. Now spin each wheel until the DSG parking brake engages and each wheel is locked. They are now locked and relaxed. Slacken the adjustment securing nut on the top of the DSG box shown below. Gently rock the DSG shifter in the 'P' position only to get the DSG cable to settle in its protective cable sheath. Do not take the shift or gearbox out of 'P' mode while doing this adjustment under any circumstances. Once settled, tighten up the securing nut to 13Nm ensuring the securing clip is fitted (Ideally, the clip should be replaced. Part N908 159 03)
