Hi, I currently own an Audi A3 and previously a Ford Focus, both of which can take my snowboard bag diagonally across the rear seats (one end in the foot-well, up to the opposite top corner).
My Scirocco arrives next month and I'm curious as to whether it can take snowboards in the same fashion?
My boot is usually loaded with sports gear and I regularly visit Milton Keynes snowdome, so not having to empty it for seat-folding would be a bonus.
The alternative is a roof rack, which I'll likely still purchase for bigger trips - but being able to sling them in the back without any hassle would be good.
Boards are 158 and 161cm.. What do you think?

Would also like to know as I go to Xscape (good to double up with Airkix) and more often the Snowdome in Tamowoth, but with just my boots, which is by far (for me) more important to have than the board so I brought them first. So if anyone does know, I would like to know.

Moreover, most snowboard boots are decent all-rounders. As long as they're comfortable you should be good for park/all-mountain. Only if you wanted racing boots (very hard) perhaps you'd need something else.
So definitely sensible to hold off on a board. I got jacket, salopettes and helmet then did two full trips before getting a board/boots/bindings - even with a lot of experience doing other boardsports under my belt.
There are so many options in terms of the type of camber; whether you prefer a longer or short board; and the kind of stuff you enjoy doing - it's simply impossible to recommend or choose a board until you've done a couple of trips and tried a few boards out.
I have two boards for the coming season and - without question - will buy at least another at the end of this season when I've understood the advantages and limitations of each of these!

I put the seat down to get my board in. Didn't even try with it up so can't really answer your question, but if it helps any it didn't look like it'd go. Rear headrests are going to be an issue any way you try it. Maybe if you raised the passenger seat all the way up (they go really high!) you could squeeze it in but I'd start working on a solid plan B if I were you.

Focus was comfortable; A3 requires a hearty shove - so I will be surprised if the Scirocco takes them.
Debate then, will be whether I empty my boot at least once a week or buy a roof rack.

Re: Scirocco + Snowboards?
Hi there, my 1st post, just joined as I am in the process of selecting my Scirocco..
I currently own a Mk1 Seat Leon Cupra, can get up to 4No. boards and bags and 3No. people in the car...(SeatCupra.net member for over 5years).
I take it once you fold one of the rear seats down you can get 2No. boards (in a 1No. touring board bag in the car)?
Sorry propbably a stupid question, as I said 1st post...
Cheers..
oh yeah... I have 2No. boards Rome Artifact (amazingly flexable jib board) & Rome Headline (super stiff, powder / freeride board) - totally destroys the mountain.
Been boarding for about 5years..
cant wait to get back up north this year and hopefully back to Chamonix..

Re: Scirocco + Snowboards?
I'm confident I can fit boards in with the seats down.
The point is that my boot's usually packed with sports gear; and I go snowboarding each week, so emptying the boot is a no-go.
If my boards don't go across the back seats, then it'll be a roof rack for me!

Re: Scirocco + Snowboards?
I see, my boot is mostly kept empty, some site gear, which I remove before loading up for boarding.
So as long as I can get large board bag. 2pairs of boots and 2no back packs with jackets etc in then no worries.
Just wasn't sure about the length from boot to back of front seats, since this looks a lot shorter than the Cupra.

Re: Scirocco + Snowboards?
To confirm, the Scirocco fits a Da Kine Low Roller snowboard bag, with a 156cm snowboard (plus bindings and boots) inside, across the rear seats.
Knocked the passenger seat forwards; shoved it diagonally across the rear seats and pushed the passenger seat back.
Leaves you with one passenger (in the front, with not a great amount of leg room); no rear seats and restricted rear view..
But for me, that's fine!
