I would have taken lots of pics and put them up of course but no sooner had I finished the rain started to come down and the nice man on the industrial law mower on camp came past, covering it in little blades of grass, fuming!!!!
Anyway I went a bit Meguiars mental and after a good wash and dry did the following;
Clayed using Meguiars 'Quik detailer' as a lube with Megs clay.
Applied Megs 'Ultimate compound' with an applicator pad and buffed with plush microfiber.
Polished with Megs 'Ultimate polish' as above.
Then 2 layers of wax with Megs 'Ultimate liquid wax'
The ultimate compound worked very well to get rid of the swirl marks but some small surface scratches are still there and there's a scrape about 1" long on the rear bumper which looks like a trolley mark from a supermarket, brilliant.
Anyhoo, it's definitely shiny there's no mistaking that but to be honest I was hoping for a lot better, there's just no 'depth' to the finish. Any recommendations for a good, deep, almost wet looking shine on indium grey? I'm wondering if I did something wrong somewhere along the line or whether ultimately I need to hand it over to a pro detailer for a day to see what they can do with it as well as getting those pesky scratches out.
The ultimate compound is good stuff and claims to be clearcoat safe but surely it has some abrasive properties so I don't want to be using it too often.
I'll give it another wash over the weekend and apply some quick detailer then hopefully get some pictures up
