I changed Car Insurance companies from Elephant to Churchill back in July, but I hadn't actually received a renewal letter from Elephant. When I cancelled I asked them to send one out which never arrived. Last week I received a letter from Churchill saying they would charge me over £1000 if I didn't provide proof of no claims.. so I got back out on the phone to Elephant but I still haven't received anything.
Essentially, I've now given Churchill my details from Elephant so they can talk direct, meaning I'll avoid the £1000 charge.. but still have to pick up a hefty admin charge. As I've just spent all my available cash on the new Scirocco I don't have this spare.. does it sound like there is any way I can claim this charge against Elephant?
Apologies if this isn't too coherent, pretty stressed!

Re: Insurance company advice
Why are you being charged an admin fee?
Why are Elephant not able to send your NCB? Personally I'd be on the phone and wouldn't get off the phone until I received my NCB proof.
A good insurer would sort all of this out on your behalf, with no admin fee.

Re: Insurance company advice
I have just had to speak to elephant regarding my renewal as I never received my renewal quote.... apparently they are going to paperless and send everything via email, they claimed to have emailed me 2 weeks ago, but i never received anything. They do claim that all of the paper work should be on the website and you should be able to print it all out from there.
Hope it gets sorted.
Cheers,
Phil

Re: Insurance company advice
Elephant/Admiral/Chruchill are all thesame company, different trading names - transferring no-claims proof between them should be seamless. Just dont have a claim with them, regardless of fault!

Re: Insurance company advice
I didn't know that Churchill were the same company, thanks. Have you had bad experience with the claims dept to make you say that though?

GT12: It's an epic tale that the mods probably won't let me tell again - it'll be on the threads somewhere for you to look up. Short story is a bus hit my couple of weeks old parked car, full liability was admitted by the other side, repairs were done and paid for by the other side, I lost none of my no-claims and Elephant tried to double my premium at renewal a month after completion of repairs, so I left them.

Re: Insurance company advice
Well, I've sorted it all now and avoided both the previously mentioned admin charge and also the admin charge for altering my insurance from the clio to Scirocco.. happy days!

I'm still confused as to why they would change an admin fee but glad it has been resolved.Gt12 wrote:Well, I've sorted it all now and avoided both the previously mentioned admin charge and also the admin charge for altering my insurance from the clio to Scirocco.. happy days!
For the record, not all, in fact in my experience, very few insurers load premiums for non fault (settled) claims.
