"AWAITING SHIPPING" - confirmed today by the dealer - The end is in sight!! I'm not counting my chickens though, knowing my luck the bloody ship will sink somewhere in the channel.

Anyway, can't wait!! :bounce:

Last stage i was told from the VW dialogue system was of a confirmed build date of 9th of March. Got a call today saying it has been updated as "Awaiting Shipping". Dealer expects the car to be with me by last week in March/First week in april. I ordered on 25th November and didnt change my order once. Feels like absolutely ages! But less than some - Poor martyd!!!

Actually bollocks to that, he gets his car tomorrow I think! Lucky bugger!

Just cannot wait now! Already ordered a couple of things for the car, going to get the sills and pedals ordered within the next two weeks! Bring it on VW!!!!!

Got a confirmed build date of the 9th of March for my car so hopefully should be getting built as we speak! No word from the dealer yet but I'll give them a call this weekend if I haven't heard from them by then! I'm slightly concerned as my road tax on my Golf expires on the 1st of April so will need to buy another 6 months if I don't have it by then.

Quick question - My car's 3 years old on the 13th of April this year. Given I need to buy another 6 months road tax for the 1st of April do I need to MOT the car before I get the tax disc as strictly speaking the car won't be 3 years old when I'm buying the road tax disc so in theory won't need an MOT? So am I right in thinking that if I buy a road tax disc at the end of this month (March) I wont need an MOT certificate?

Obviously given that my Scirocco is just about to arrive in the next few weeks I'd rather not spend the money getting my car MOT'd and tax'd! Anyone any thoughts on the above scenario?

TIA

You can tax without MOT as long as the car is less than 3 years old unless the rules have changed. Also if you take the tax disc off when you trade it in you can get a refund for the unexpired months.

AFAIR You will be able to buy the tax without he MOT as long as the first date the disc is valid from falls before the MOT is due/required.

I taxed my old car last year in the same circumstances as you with no problem. Did it online and the only thing it said was this car will need a valid MOT from 06th Oct. I taxed the car in the middle of September.

My purchase paperwork went through on 9th March.

Today's estimated build week 19, the dealer hopes for delivery mid June.

OK, so I blinked first...

Since ordering the car towards the end of February and having an estimated Build Week 17 I've heard nothing from the dealer since, so, I emailed him earlier and just heard back that the car is now being built next week and he expects it to be ready for pick-up at the end of April which, coincidentally, is when I head off abroad for a month long job ... :fall:

Strangely, he didn't acknowledge the bit of the email which mentioned that I would like an iPod lead in the car when I pick it up. Hmmmmm.....

Cheers!
