wing mirror loose?
Hello all,
Just collected my Scirocco today! Amazing car! However upon arriving home I went to fold the wing mirror in and it felt a bit loose (had about half a centimeter of play) whereas the other one was on firmly. I take it this may have developed over time as it is a 2 year old car where the previous keep was folding the mirror. Is it a difficult screw to acces and isit worth going back to a VW garage to get them to tighten it back up?
Kind regards,

If you take off the mirror cap. http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... cap#p44564" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/roccop ... irror_Caps" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Inside you will find a strong looking spring on the vertical line of the pivot point. This may have been dislodged or damaged in its seating. It may not be repairable.
If it is the base onto the door exterior metal bodywork, then the inside door card will need to come offand then remove the black plastic curvy triangle part where the mirror attaches by undoing the lower securing Torx bolt on the inside of the door metal panel. Behind the plastic panel is the securing Torx bolt holding the whole mirror unit to the door. (Tightening torque = 10Nm, both bolts).

Re: wing mirror loose?
Another quick question. Do you know how much a dealer would charge to fit chrome tail pipe tips I already purchased and will a dealer be able to do some vag com changes for me? I want both doors to unlock at the same time and doors to unlock when key is removed from ignition.
Re: wing mirror loose?
Where abouts are you? For just a cuppa lots of folk on here would be willing to do those vagcom changes for you

If you have the highline computer (white display?) you should be able to set the auto door locking/unlocking on the MFD display.

I have the white display but no steering wheel buttons. I've been told only vag com can do it as I can only control my white screen using wiper stalk.

Re: wing mirror loose?
Just called up my local VW to ask about the wing mirror. They said I needed to pay for labour for removing the door card. Is this how it works since I collected my car yesterday from a VW dealer (albeit not the same one as I had to drive 2 hours to goto buy my car) and how much should I expect to be charged for this "door card removal"?

I suggest you get a quote from the dealer first.

Re: wing mirror loose?
Well this morning my dad popped the car into the local VW garage (literally a 10 minute walk away) and called the garage we purchased it from and they suggested they could foot the bill for the loose wing mirror. So this local VW garage said it was £70 to diagnose the problem (a joke price and I would never have paid this price myself for a diagnosis of a loose screw) but yeah how the car is now in the garage. How long should this process take? Can I expect my car back for the weekend? (In your experiences with garages and their turnarounds)
