http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

went to see this car last week. which i think is cheap for a dealer car.

at first i though it was just the high mileage as the car is spotless

but tried to so a hpi check and the plate doesnt exist.

is something amiss?

surely not at a VW dealer?

Sometimes they put false plates on as they don't want someone cloning it or making enquiries about it.

I think the price is about right, considering it has 48k on the clock and is a manual. I am not keen on those type of adverts which lists just about everything down to every last nut and bolt. Could not see that it has leather interior fitted, no sat nav. I would say value should be nearer 12k, even though I would like to think it is worth more. :-)

They will not budge from 13k and that's the cheapest viper I can find.

It does have leather but nothing else. But green, manual, leather are my only requirements.

I only do 6k miles so the mileage doesn't bother me.

I was concerned because of the reg and the fact the service book had been changed, but the could be linked somehow.

Perhaps I was being a little over optimistic saying value should be about 12k, I was surprised myself as an 09 plate is valued at about £14,800 (for average mileage) at an independent garage. Considering above average miles I would say price is right (provided history stacks up), I would still offer say £12,250 and work from there, they would probably do the deal at 12,500, 12,600.

I would be very concerned that the service book had been changed, especially as there is a question mark over the registration, what's the reg no on the tax disc (if it has one). First off I'd ask to see the reg documents then do a HPI check against the correct number and unless I was absolutely certain all was square I'd walk away. I realise this may cause a tear in your eye but that would be nothing compared to the problems you may have later if things are not as they should be.

Could have been registered with a private plate abd then assigned that number when the plate was removed. Could also explain why service book is changed although normally they would just update.

cheers voyager

Vin not available?

I've agreed to buy at 13k with 12 month tax and full tank of juice,

They paid 11750 and spent 900 on bits apparently

Comes with a proper vw warranty so I'm very happy with it tbh

He thinks it's just a cherished plate issue but will check for me before sale
