Post by elite »

Hi guys,

Noobie here,

Cant get my launch control to work...Followed the instructions in the forum, Have the Scirocco R 2011 model,

Right foot brake
S' mode
switch esp off
when I rev dosnt seem to hold at 3000...just keep on going the rev's.

any idea's? trying to improve my quarter mile times, anybody have any feedback regarding the difference between "drive" / "sport" with or without ESP?

Any help would be appreciated

Mine was the other way around.... didn't go above 1500. Launch was so so, I wasn't expecting full on, but with revs so low seemed a momentary delay.

Won't be using again as not much use in every day driving (ie. don't want to leave it revving like that, brake on at the traffic lights).

I have found that launch control does not engage on even a slight uphill - probably because of interference from the hill holder.
That's when the Launch Control only revs up to 1500RPM and grinds.

If you are having trouble engaging Launch Control - play with the throttle. It should rise to about 3500RPM before settling at around 3100RPM.

Launch control is probably the only redeeming quality of the DSG box. It sux otherwise.

I've never used LC as I read somewhere that you can invalidate your warranty if used more than twice? Is this true? if not can anyone explain the exact process, whether its actually any good, and or whether occassional use would have any detrimental impact?

Don't wanna be missing out!

The above comments are a myth, it can be used without affecting your warranty and can be used more than twice. It has internal protection that prevents it being used if the oil is too hot or too cold but it does put doing launches does put additional strain through the drivetrain.

Procedure to use is;
1. Get engine and gearbox up to normal running temp.
2. Put in S Mode
3. Disable ESP
4. Put left foot on brake
5. Floor throttle with right foot and it should hold the revs around 3k
6. Lift off left foot, small delay and off you go.

In my experience it's more of a novelty rather than of any use on the road.

My TDi 170 axel tramps like crazy when I use launch control. Excessive wheelspin if I just turn the ESP off. I havent tried either since I had a REVO map as I dont want to stress the box too much. Plain old flooring it in D is what I do now.
