I do 12 miles each way (all urban - Oldham - Salford) to work each day and get around 34-36 on the way in (7.30 am) and hm.. 24-26 on the way home (6.30pm) with some traffic. My 160TSi is recording overall 28.6mpg over the first 3,000 miles, not catastrophic but if you're used to a VW 2.0 TDi fuel e...
OK it's October before I replied to this thread but thought it was really worthwhile... Firstly the FK1000 is brilliant. Manchester's worst washes off with a noodle mitt nice and easily! Even when left abandoned for a month in various airport car parks (the flights home are always looking forward to...
After 900 miles I've only seen 40 on the trip computer once. At 7am on the 10mi trip to work I see 35-38mpg (driving gently). Coming home at 6pm in traffic I see 25-27mpg on the same journey. Lowest was 22.8. Not the same as my '57 Golf GT TDi PD but a much nicer sound!
... I have a pellet gun to take care of the birds as a preventative measure! More seriously, thanks for the good avice. Just got the Roc back from VW today and it scared the hell out of me now it works how quickly it can get you into trouble (even coming from a golf 2.0 GT TDi 140)...! Edit: just re...
In case anyone is interested - just got my 'Roc back today and all is spot on! The fault was an actuator which was causing the turbo to disengage with the SC clutch. Had a test drive down the M60 sliproad and compared to how it used to be (& the 90hp diesel Golf they lent me) it's definitely got...
get it back? wheres it gone? It's back at the dealer - only had it 2 weeks / 450 miles and the amber Engine warning light came on. I thought it was down on power (from 3.5k up) from new. The road test with the VW assistance guy (plugged into his comp) showed the (turbo) boost pressure dropped away ...
Thanks trix! Got a wash mitt (Asda microfibre job) but need a second for the wheels I guess. The SRP on the wheels was a recommendation from the salesman (who I also bought my Golf from - before I realised what really looking after my car meant) - but in the short term seems to help on the wheels......
New (white) Rocco owner needing a little help: Previously I had a silver Golf GT (ok, it was a workhorse - clean but not pampered if honest). Just got my new Roc (OK, when I get it back from the garage - don't ask :-( ) and have in the past have mainly used AG products and whatever shampoo was in th...
Thought I'd provide an update - thanks for the useful info above. Today at 450 miles the engine management warning light came on - so I limped the car the rest of the way home. Called Volkswagen Assistance - the guy who came was here inside 40 minutes and set to work... The computer showed a Turbo f...
Thanks all for the info. I wasn't expecting to get close to the 8.0 before the engine's been run in - I'll give it a couple of weeks of gentle driving to see if it improves at the 1,000 mile mark. If not then I'll take it in then. (It feels quicker changing up below 3,000 and letting the supercharge...
Hi - newbie here (help please?) Just picked up my Scirocco 1.4 TSI 160 on Friday of last week. It's only got a couple of hundred miles on the clock now. Having taken it down the motorway a couple of times, to me it's almost like the turbo isn't connected - nice acceleration up to about 3,500rpm then...
