You guys must be driving like hell
I did over 70.000 miles on Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 on my mk5 Golf. With still 3mm left, when i sold it.
I've done 6000 miles in my 2,0TSI now, with no noticeable wear. On Goodyear Eagle Assymmetric.

Re: Audio upgrade, an alternative to Dynaudio.
Speaker11.jpg To mount the midrange speakers, i made some mounting brackets. Simply cut out from some MDF, sanded down and painted black. The bracket is glued on to the Blaupunkt spacer with hot glue. It took som trying out to find the right place of the bracket. Be carefull to make room for the &q...

Re: Audio upgrade, an alternative to Dynaudio.
Speaker06.jpg Here's the complete rear installation, allthough the wiring isn't completed yet. The midwoofer is mounted on a the Blaupunkt 30 mm spacer. which fits right on where the factory speaker was mounted. The factory speakers both front and rear is mounted with rivets, so they obviously have...

Re: Audio upgrade, an alternative to Dynaudio.
I have finally completed the installation, or nearly  As i think i have to make some minor adjustments and sound damping. Speaker01.jpg Speaker02.jpg Speaker03.jpg The rear speakers first. It's a time consuming job to remove the panels, as i had to start in the trunk. First remove the plen...

However Im a music producer/music lover/semi-hi fi buff (I say semi because I love great audio but I dont believe in the majority of Audiophile nonsense as an audio engineer I know the science doesn't add u...

This thread has taken a unexpected turn
I guess an average wage is 2500£ a month - but then we also pay 1/3 - 1/2 of it in taxes.

Re: Audio upgrade, an alternative to Dynaudio.
The wiring is no problem, the PnP cable is actually PnP. Ofcourse you have to place the cables under the carpet and so on, but if you plan it right, it is done in one day. And yes it has been much cheaper for me this way, and hopefully much better. In Denmark we have very high taxes on new cars, the...

Re: Audio upgrade, an alternative to Dynaudio.
The last thing to do is to connect the power cables to the battery. You should ground the amps to the nearest ground connecter which is in the footwell in both sides, behind the kickpanels. I made an extra "power group" in the fuse box in the engine compartment. There's an vacant fuse hold...

Re: Audio upgrade, an alternative to Dynaudio.
To mount the amps it is neccesary to remove a lot of the interior. I removed both front seats, but its quit easy. Theres a coupling station beside the outer seat rails. === At this point you should disconnect the battery === So simply unplug the connectors, unscrew the 4 screws and lift out the seat...

Re: Audio upgrade, an alternative to Dynaudio.
At this time i was still waiting for my Scirroco. Well it wasn't really ordered - because i was strugling to sell my Golf 5 for a fair price :( So i did a test setup in my Golf 5 (with only the main amp). Which will show on some of the pictures, but there is really no difference Between the Golf and...

Mounting the amps. After some resarch i found out that the Blaupunkt THA475 PNP amp would fit right under the drivers seat. In a car with the stearingwheel in the left side that is, i guess it must be the other way around for you UK guys ;) So that was what i was going for. Nearly by coincidence i f...

Re: Audio upgrade, an alternative to Dynaudio.
To finish up the subcase i had to find out how many litres the tub could contain. Beacuse of the odd shape theres no formula to calculate the volume, so i had to do some measuring with water. I found out by filling the tub with water, while counting how many 15 litres buckets i used, until i was nea...

Re: Audio upgrade, an alternative to Dynaudio.
Next thing to do, is to cut off the edges and "close" it with polyester.
After that, i made a top of MDF board. I will not bore you with a lot of pictures with sawing and drilling.
