Re: Rear right wheel creaking (after new brakes).
Thanks tre-punti. Tried compression without the hand brake and it doesn't creak so it's probably the handbrake mechanism like you're on about. Putting the handbrake higher gets rid of it. Will work out how to fix it. If by "first sound" you mean clicking/knocking - 90% certain it's the rea...

Rear right wheel creaking (after new brakes).
Hey All, The rear right wheel is creaking when I get in or out of the car, or if I compress the rear suspension by hand. Video here: https://youtu.be/37G3cRkH12A I can't tell what it is, my gut says spring/shock, but could be the brakes - I've just put new rears brakes on, with the help of a friendl...

CCZB Tensioner - engine out job?
Hey All, Haven't inspected but I have a 2011 2.0 TFSI with the CCZB - I believe this means I'll have the bad tensioner design which I'll be checking soon; especially as I have no invoices from the previous owner indicating this work has been done (although maybe I wouldn't have invoices if it was do...

Re: Deciphering VW's oil change instructions.
Thanks Roy, that makes a lot of sense. Guessing it is designed not to make a lot of mess, given it's position? Pretty sure my engine is a canister-style filter rather than a replaceable-filter style.

Deciphering VW's oil change instructions.
Hey All, Doing an oil change soon (once my autodoc order gets here). Reading through the maintenance guide from Erwin, it says: "For engines with standing oil filter, the oil filter must be renewed before changing the engine oil. When the filter element is removed, a valve is opened. The oil in...

Window Switches only working on One-Touch
Hey All,
Noticed that my window switches only work when doing the one-touch down/up; the first click doesn't do anything.
Is this a known issue?
Going to do a window reset and test it all out, will feedback, just asking ahead of time in case anyone has had this before.

Re: Steering wheel lights, airbag error and horn issue
The Horn fuse is in fusebox "B", fuse F5/SB5; 15amp. Box B appears to be in the engine bay and is the one closer to the firewall. Airbag's control unit is fuse 3 in box "C", which is the one inside the vehicle. Again I would immediately guess the clock spring, but worth looking a...

Re: Steering wheel lights, airbag error and horn issue
Here's the topic on fuses - unfortunately it seems that the attachments (diagrams etc) are deleted now. https://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=67103 I think I have the fusebox diagrams on my PC, I'll try and find it tomorrow. Given what happened my guess would be something with your...

Re: Spark Plugs - Gap and Parts Numbers
Hi All, thanks for the responses. Yep, 3.5mm is massive - think I was a few winks short of 40 at the time. A further email to explain myself with Niterra/NGK and that measurement is confirmed as the distance between the nut and the tip, or there-abouts - some dimension to do with fitting and not the...

Re: Spark Plugs - Gap and Parts Numbers
I contacted NGK about it and have confirmed: PFR7S8EG / 1675 or IFR7X8G / 95820 are appropriate for the CCZB engine. The gap on the IFR7X8G is 0.8mm. Here is the full reply from NGK: Good morning Fish, thank you for your enquiry, I can confirm that iridium plugs IFR7X8G (stock number 95820) are the ...

Spark Plugs - Gap and Parts Numbers
Hi All, tl;dr: Does the NGK IFR7X8G fit the CCZB engine? And will I need to adjust the gap on them? Spark plugs are probably overdue on my Scirocco - bought in June and the service history suggests the last spark plugs were in 2016, 20k miles ago.
