Time to sell...

A new arrival is going to force my hand soon and I'll be selling my beloved Scirocco in the next few months. I've not sold a car privately before (always gone the easy route and part-ex'd), but given I have got a bit of time to play I thought I might try a private sale. Has anyone got an any tips fo...

Re: 2.0L Tsi Wastegate Rattle Cure?

My scirocco is in for its first service today; I've asked them to look at the problem and they said they would look nto it and check for new dealer bulletins. Will let you know they come up with

Insurance deals at the moment

Just got my insurance quote from Chris Knott after using them last year and my premium has gone up 25% after another claim free year!!

Has anyone in their mid-thirties with 10+ years claim free driving got recent experience of good deals with insurers?

Cheers.

Poor service from VW and a warranty question

Not sure what the prototcol for naming dealers is so I will keep names out of the post for now. After getting a Scirocco delivered from a dealer in North London with a big scratch on it last March, my VW dealer experience has gone further downhill. A sanitised extract from my complaint is set-out be...

Re: Rattle from 'wastegate'

Did anyone get anywhere with VW and the wastegate rattle? Done a bit of searching but this is the most up to tdate post I can find.

My 10 plate 210 2.0 FSI has had the problem since day one, and after 1,000miles done seems to be getting louder.

Re: Unwanted optional extra

Pictures of my Scirocco after its bumper repair and now with Diamondbrite treatment earlier today. Not great weather but a good test of the treatment with all of the water beading on the paintwork. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2706/4448642346_e8d9fbec3e_b_d.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4029/...

Re: Unwanted optional extra

Car now sorted and the repair looks great. Harrogate VW were pretty good I have to say -- running me to the station and giving the car a decent exterior clean too. My dealer in London also paid Harrogate over the phone so I just need to claim back my petrol and train costs. I might take the opportun...

Re: Unwanted optional extra

That is poor. Its so noticeable I'm surprised they didn't notify you before you saw it. Its good they are sorting it out. Its gotta be gutting to wait for ages then have set back like that. Good that they have agreed to pay, but its still a fifty mile round trip (and no car for a day) to get it to ...

Re: Unwanted optional extra

They had no explanation other than they think it must have happened between the car coming from the parking area round the back of the dealer and being put in the showroom. Who knows what the truth really is. The really laughable bit was that the car handover was being done by one of the dealer's st...

Unwanted optional extra

I had been hoping to show you some pictures of my shiny new 2.0 GT in pewter grey; but instead here is the first thing I noticed about the car in the showroom. Spotted it before I had even spoken to the dealer. The dealer has agreed to pay for the full cost of the repair through a VW approved bodysh...

Re: Is this a good deal on a new GT?

I also used http://www.dealdrivers.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who were pretty good (although the VW dealer that included an optional extra as 'big scratch on rear bumper before the car has left the showroom' was less good :)

Re: VW fitted mats

i 've just picked mine up on sat and the dealer gave me the fitted mat. its fairly standard, not the thick one. i think its better to have the mat version because you can dry your shoes. Are there two versions of the carpet fitted mat? Spotted some allegedly genuine VW mats on eBay at a good price....

Re: VW fitted mats

Alas the dealer won't throw any mats in -- just a tank of fuel (which is annoying as I am foregoing the option to have it driven 200miles by them to my house -- no way am I letting them be the first to drive it!). Ideally I'd get carpet and rubber and change them with the seasons but then we're up t...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Build week six which means starting today, One hell of a wait since september. Im tempted to phone vw cs to see if they have started..best not. No, it means it will be finished one day this week at the factory and going to the docks. A build week 06 Scirocco will have started assembly during...

Should I have ordered two?!

Saw first Scirocco in my colour at the weekend at a non-VW dealer near Bradford. Really pleased with the colour, although it has more of a blue tinge than I was expecting and is (unsurprisingly) very different to the colour on the new vehicle configurator on the VW website! It was a 59 plate and loo...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

VW CS could only advise me this morning that build would complete this week (I was hoping to find out stage in the build process). Also advised that car should be with me by the end of the month, if not early March. Not really convinced their delivery estimate is accurate -- sounds very optimistic t...

VW fitted mats

Does anyone have any close-up decent resolution photos of VW's rubber and/or carpet fitted mats ? Trying to decide which of the two to ask my dealer to fit before taking delivery. Many thanks.

Re: Purchase Advice

You might want to take a look at dealdrivers.co.uk too. The website is a bit iffy but the price I will pay when I collect the car will be almost 10% off list. They also seemed pretty clued up on which of their usual dealers had some of their allocation left, so you may also be able to save youself o...
