Re: How long without use?

Mine sat on the driveway un-used from April to August this year with no ill effects. Not by choice, may I add. Stupid spinal cord. Only thing I did was check tyres, water, oil etc before I drove it. I'd like to say I road checked it gently afterwards but that would be a lie. 14 weeks of not driving ...

This is quite possibly the last time mine was white:

It's not so much candy, as toffee coloured right now.

Re: How does DCC (dynamic chassie control) work?

I don't know how it works, but do like that I can get my exact initials up on the dash just by pressing a little button. On my more stressed/insane days I take great comfort in my car telling me 'DCC normal.'

Re: Whats the Best or Worst Courtesy Car youve ever had?

Worst car I got was a few years ago - a Daewoo Matiz which would barely reach 60 miles per hour and 45 on hills if you gave it a good run at it!!! My colleague got one of those while her 'roc was being fixed after an accident. We met a couple of times while she was driving the Matiz, and I'd delibe...

Re: Is the Scirocco front bonnet too soft?

Any other words of comfort would really help me thru this sad moment in my Rocs life.... Hehehe! Would it help if I told you that I drove into my own gatepost last night? Big scrape all down the front angled bit. New bumper job, I think :( In my defence: I'm pretty sick atm. Not in my defence: This...

Re: Sciroccos in the snow

After nine months of driving I've got my first problem with the 'roc. Car unlocked and glass dropped, but it seems to have gone back up and now the door won't close. It's just minus 7 here so I have no intention of being outside for more than ten seconds at a time. Suggestions? Here it is before I a...

Re: 55.2 mpg at steady 50 mph

Only a couple of hundred on the clock since but trying hard on the M4, I got 55.2 mpg at steady 50 mph cruise control in my GT 2.0 TDi 170 6 Speed DSG. Can anyone beat that ? Well yes, but it was 15,000 miles ago and was a 70mph/50mph through the speed limits on the M4 near Newport. 73 mile trip fr...

Re: Interior mats - What are best?

I gave away the mats that came with the car; they always seem to go curly/wear through where my feet go/trip me up or just generally piss me off. I bought myself some rubber mats just so wet feet weren't a problem, the mats couldn't wear and the edges held their shape, think they've been in every co...

Re: Be Prepared

Mine looked exactly the same after a weekend trip to Shropshire where our log cabin was up a dirt track, (and where a farmer squeezing passing me in a 4WD told me the roads weren't built for "those city cars") plus trips on the M5/M42/M6/M69/M4 this week. Got it all sparkly clean yesterday...

Re: Which diesel? 140 or 170?

My colleague has a pewter 140, I've a candy 170 - the only difference (apart from the colour obv) is the chrome tips and the red i. Apart from mine being quicker than hers, sounding better and getting slightly fewer mpg, of course. The 170 I was looking at in the dealer's today had chrome tips too s...

Re: Your 1st winter as a Scirocco owner

What's my chances of getting VW to stick something on the rubbers when the 'roc goes in for its first service in the morning, do you think?

Re: Tall drivers

The door is low compared to other VWs I've driven. I smacked my head more than once when I first got it and I'm a relatively midgety 5'9. The other person I (infrequently!) let drive the car is 6'7", and he'll jump straight into my driving position and go, no problem, but then I drive long and ...

You must be absolutely gutted, hope the work's not as serious as it looks. At least you're ok. How come you hit a Scenic up the arse anyway? I'd have thought you'd have kept as far away from it as possible, just in case its ugliness was catching... Kind of makes me glad I didn't quite roll into that...

Re: Ownership - Boys or Girls?

Must be more than 6 surely.... :) I'd have thought that not so many females ventured onto a car forum, hence the percentages. I see more males than females in the Scirocco, but there's a fair few being driven by women of a certain age now (self included); reckon it's around 75/25 male/female. I hat...

Re: MAX SPEED

I can no longer test the speed of my Scirocco. Yesterday's post brought a speeding ticket. After checking the date I discovered I was caught on the way to the Somerset and Avon Police Speed Awareness Course last month.

Sometimes you just have to laugh at your own idiocy.

Re: Seat question

Gabbo, like you I had the Golf GT tdi and had a couple of niggles with my iffy back on long drives. There's not a lot of difference in the seats between the Golf and the Roc (though I used to have a bit dig into my bum in the Golf and nothing does in the Roc) but there's a massive one in how the car...

Re: Hypermiling

I've been trying to prove it's not possible to break even using the government recommended mileage rates for company car drivers, so have spent the last couple of days sticking rigidly to speed limits. Got this on a 73 mile trip over to Cardiff today: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/DebbieCC/hy...

Re: what gear at 30 ?

This whole 30mph/6th gear thing has intrigued me, so I've just given it a go on the same stretch of road in and out of town. Couple of points; it doesn't sound laboured (much to my surprise), it does feel laboured when my foot's on the accelerator, if I take my foot off the accelerator the car will ...
