Michel, this problem doesn't happen overnight. You should get it checked by a trusted garage. Volkswagen offered me to pay 80 percent of the costs unless it was something different than the common problem. I don't think they'd offer that to earn money.

I had the car checked at a VW dealer and their diagnose was that it needed to be repaired (onder coulance zelfs). Not sure if the 2.0 tsi has a chain but it doesn't make that sound.

The timingchain had to be repaired. This is a common problem with 1.4 tsi's (2008-2009 atleast). Does it still make a rattling chain sound with cold start? I could have get it repaired at VW (onder coulance) but only if it's a certain kind of problem. They couldn't guarantee it could be repaired ond...
