yes I totally agree, it will be a backwards step considering the competition out there... the scirocco will end up bottom of the pile! VW can and do make great cars so why go backwards ????

the torque is advertised as TBA! which is another odd one... the 180ps has a top speed of 153mph (where the law permits) and 0-60 is 6.5 so your right not a lot of difference in real world driving... and its plenty for me!

yes.. I think it might look like this on petrol models, 14 tsi 125ps, 2ltr GT 180ps, 2ltr GTS 220ps or more? and the R, it looks like their just fitting the GTS into the range and making it more attractive than the GT. im very happy with the 180 ill be getting because for me its about the aesthetics...

All I know are the facts and they are the 220 engine is not available to buy on the VW website anymore, and neither is the GTS, the 180ps is still a 2ltr petrol engine so is it just a case of them not doing a factory remap anymore... I don't know?, there is obviously some marketing strategy going on...

yes you are correct 220 ps is no longer available but they did give me the option of 220 with old spec or 180 with the new bits, so ive come to a deal with the dealer they are upgrading my 180ps GT with Sioux leather at no extra cost, so should look nice with my other options Aztec gold, Lisbon whee...

ok thanks, it looks like we've ordered our cars around the same time and I should be getting a build week early next week so ill keep in touch and let you know, they did say that there had been a slight delay with my build week because they were securing the 220 engine for me.

no, having build date on Monday I hope, dealer told me no model changes are taking place for a long time, the car is due end of june

that sounds all good... VWs with more power is a very exciting prospect, dealer told me its something to do with emissions

but that would make a scirocco GT more powerful than a golf GTi.... naaaa

VW has dropped the new 220ps engine in the scirocco GT and R line this week... due to new euro regulations !!! at the moment these models are now only available in 180ps, i ordered a new 2ltr GT 3 weeks ago and it was confirmed today i will get my 220ps engine in the car because of the date of the o...

i really don't know why its happened and what the difference is... maybe someone with the knowledge could enlighten us both...

yes its the same engine and still available in the GTi... ive checked the website but no 220 for the scirocco anymore.... strange goings on!!
