It may not have been the clutch I can't remember what he said but it would be £100 for the parts, said as clutch and gearbox off it would make sense. Either way it's on its way to being repaired

Update on the car. VW have contacted and said its a TPI issue and as such will be offering 70% off the full price of parts and labour. So £300 for al,the work. I have also requested that the entire clutch be also replaced at the same time so a total of about £400. The car is 2011 and has 27000 miles...

Well went to collect car took the mechanic out and instantly recreated it. As I had been dropped off expecting to take my car they offered me a taxi. Instead I requested a courtesy car, which they arranged for a couple of days later. Had the car for 30 minutes and someone decided to rear end me oops...

And still they can't repeat the sound yet everytime I use the car I get the noise.

Any suggestions on getting this sound. I have mentioned. Revering up hill whilst under load (steering and AC) or same in first but they don't seem to be able to. Had the car since Friday now.

So far they have had the car for a day, I called and they were unable to recreate the noise despite me telling them it's usually 1st or reverse up a hill.
