Re: Emissions compensation legal action

The idea would be to make a claim for the diminished value of the car (might be a problem at sale time whether you've had the fix done or not, especially if it becomes the general view that the fix spoils driveability); and also, I suppose, in some way to punish VW financially for cheating us. I und...

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?

Had new cam belt fitted. with tensioners and water pump replacement of course. Car is 6 years old, 56000 miles, it just kinda slipped my mind before. Cost £322 at my local independent.

Re: Emissions recall

I got a letter from VW today saying that they were still 'continuing with our work to release the technical measure for your specific vehicle'. Goes on to say it's complex with multiple models, engine variants and gearbox types affected. This seems odd. There is only one EA189 engine in the Scirocco...

Re: 2.0 TDI, GT, CR, RLine...I'm confused. Please Help.

Cheers mate. Yeh I've noticed that about the 170s. It seems that there's about 1 for every 10 138s advertised. But I'm looking at that as a plus sign in that people generally want to hold onto them. Thanks for the advice :-) Insurance is higher on the TDi 170 than the 140, which matters to some peo...

Re: Emissions recall

Same here, I got the latest pointless letter. It seems to me that VW are struggling to make the fix work satisfactorily, otherwise they'd have started implementing it now, especially given the governmental pressure they're under. That would also explain why they didn't design the car like this origi...

Re: What now diesel?

Interesting to see that they have not yet got a technical solution. I think the reaction of many of us here (and maybe the market for the cars more generally) will depend on what the solution is. So none of us really knows yet. (Mine is a 2010 TDI 140 so I have had the letter too.)

Re: Views on current used rocco market

More Mk6 Golf than Mk5, IMHO. In addition to what previous posters have said - all of which I agree with - most used cars on sale, whether Sciroccos or anything else, tend to be the lower spec versions, because more people could afford those versions when new. In the case of the Scirocco there's an ...

Re: What now diesel?

Is it just the EA189 that is the subject of this controversy - and if so is that engine installed in Sciroccos?

Re: Scirocco DSG or Manual

I went for a TDI DSG and love the DSG. Wouldn't go back to a manual. I drive it in auto most of the time as it's so responsive. After 10,000 miles in it I reckon I can make it change gear on demand using the accelerator or brake so I rarely use the paddles. I like manuals too, still enjoy driving my...

Re: Rising Blue Bluemotion 140 DSG

Yes, it is a massive step up! Congratulations, good choice. I see you have got DSG and leather too - both essential options, I reckon. My car is similar spec to yours (but older) and after a year of ownership I still look forward to driving it every time. I hope you find the same.

Re: Steering Wheel right side controls

Hi zaremax, same on my car. On the phone, I'm sorry to say but it may be that you haven't got the bluetooth module fitted. My car hasn't got it either, but I have still got the (dummy) controls on the steering wheel and it looks as if there is a mic in the roof console - but there isn't. The stubby ...

Re: Rear seats plastic cover removal?

Are you certain it's a cover? It looks as if it's supporting the rail which carries the hinged seat backs. It might be the actual support, not a cover. (I have to admit I've not needed to remove it. But no-one else has amswered yet!).

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?

Took it to my local indie to trace a bad rattle from the rear suspension. It was loud enough that pedestrians would stare at the car as I drove past. We got the car on the hoist and quickly found the offside rear spring had broken, about 10cm from the bottom end, and the broken off part was resting ...

Re: 10-15K

Yes, same here, I wanted phone prep (bluetooth) and cruise control but didn't find a car with either on in my price range. Agree that the original poster should enjoy the 2.0TSi, more power than his 1.8T 180.

Re: 10-15K

You can get a nice one for this money and you should have a wide choice. I spent £13,500 last summer on mine at a used car outfit and you can see the spec in my signature. Basically I got a 3.5 year old TDi 140, GT trim, with DSG and leather (a decent spec) which is a great cruiser. I wasn't bothere...

Re: Spilt Milk

Assuming it's the seat base that's wet and not the backs, it's very easy to remove. Get both hands under the front edge, pull forward and upwards, the front comes away and the whole thing can be pulled out. It's just clipped in place. (Whilst it's out you can fit sound insulation under there as I d...

Re: Climate Control Question - Upgrade

Hi Alex, I think you have the 'Climatic' air con system there, not the 'Climatronic' climate control. Very confusingly named choice of systems. Unfortunately, the Climatic, whilst decent as air con installations go, is an analogue system and I don't think there is any upgrade route. VW wouldn't have...

Re: what is "Hands free phone preparation"

I think it's Bluetooth module, microphone in the roof light switch panel, roof aerial, CANbus integration to switch the speakers between radio and phone when a call comes, and controls on the steering wheel for starting/stopping calls. If buying second hand be careful because cars without the phone ...

Re: Selling my Rocco

What reg is it? I bought my ROC in the summer, 2010 60-reg, for £13,500 and it had 34,000 miles on it so similar price and mileage to yours. You can't compare directly as mine is the GT TDi 140 with DSG and you have GT TSi manual. There are more diesels around so there is a premium for the TSi over ...
