Does the noise occur with the bonnet open (and propped up) or just when shut ? While I have not had major "noise" issues on mine, the bonnet stay rod used to rattle about until I wedged a piece of bath sponge under it to absorb the flexing / vibrations. I wouldn't have described my noise ...

That is very true ! I think i'll be heading down to a local garage and see what they come up with as my local volkswagen dealer isnt the best when they tried to tell me the cheapest tyre they had there for my car was £220 and was the only one available no matter where i went !
