Climate control digital readout issue

I've got a 58 plate roc that has developed a strange problem with the digital climate control displays. When I turn the car on, instead of displaying a temperature, the displays go a bit haywire for about ten seconds. They then settle down and read "HI", or "23.5" or whatever tem...

Re: Emission Control / Engine Management Lamp 2.0tsi

My guess is a manifold problem, which I also had:

Re: Ticking from wheel

Sorry, I didn't see your reply last night Cuprabob. Thanks for that. What I did do last night is go out and torque the wheel bolts again. This morning as I was driving to the garage, there was no noise. The garage was late opening so I decided to take it for a spin. Then when there was still no nois...

Re: Ticking from wheel

I'm going to take it in to my local garage in the morning. It could be a number of things which I haven't got time to diagnose at the moment and I don't feel confident driving it in case it's something major. Will report back.

Ticking from wheel

I replaced my front discs and pads yesterday and everything went well although I didn't torque the caliper bolts enough so did that this morning. I had to put a lot of force behind the torque spanner to get 200nm when I tightened the caliper bolts. When I took the car for a test drive there is a lou...

Caliper torque settings

Does anyone know the correct torque settings for the caliper carrier bolts and the slider pins? Thanks.

Re: Engine management light

Yeah, pretty good outcome really. New manifold for free and nothing seemed to be wrong with the car other than the light coming on for a day. Just gutted I'm without the roc for a few days and am driving round in a Polo with "drive this car for £146 a month" written in massive letters on t...

Re: Engine management light

It's the manifold. They couldn't get hold of the part straight away so hopefully will be doing it tomorrow or Friday.

Re: Engine management light

Thanks bob. I think you're right. I'll get it checked and if anything is wrong it's under warranty.

Engine management light

I bought a second hand Scirocco from a dealer a couple of weeks ago. It's a black 58 plate 2.0 TSI DSG with panoramic sunroof and 40k on the clock, a little bit disheveled but I've been doing everything I can to bring it back to it's former glory: Got the dealer to recondition all the alloys and a t...

Re: Lighter fluid to clean exteior trim of polish

Petrol based products melt rubber but I'm sure you won't have caused any lasting problem as lighter fluid evaporates quickly.

Lighter fluid is great for cleaning everything else though, especially removing stickers/sticker residue. Just soak them and then wipe off with paper towel.
