Any reason why I get a warning chime when my car is stationary at times. Just opened it to put something in my glove box - engine not on but BONG!!!!!

I have this.

At first I thought it was because I left the Scirocco unlocked as it started to make the sound after a while. But it doesn't do it on all occassions.

So that lead me to think it's a low battery level warning as I sometimes leave the Scirocco unused for a while but with time that hasn't be proven true.

Asked the dealers as there nothing in the handbook or workshop manuals I could find at the time. Got

Latest thought is the radio, with the sound coming out of the door speakers. I leave my radio switched on all the time and let the ignition key turn it off. When turning off the ignition, I leave with the radio selected ON and mute it using the steering wheel controls. So even though the radio screen is off with the ignition off, its not switched off. The thought is that if the radio is in FM mode and the TP mode search is in operation. When traffic updates from a radio station are completely lost, the "bong" is the warning.

There is some text in the Radio Handbook section in the owner's handbook wallet that seems to suggest this is the cause but the text is a little vague.

Mine does it too, probably twice a week or so in the morning when leaving for work. Doesnt seem to do it any other time though.

I had a warning sound the other day, but realised I'd left the parking light on; i.e. the indicator stalk was down (or up).

I'm begining to think it is a the Battery Manager module is informing the 09 - Central Electronics that electrical loads need to shed to preserve what is left in the battery so the engine can be started the next time soon. Discounted the that if the radio is in FM mode and the TP mode search is in operation. When traffic updates from a radio station are completely lost, the "bong" is the warning - its not that...

I caught the possible reason the other day while servicing the car and it was occassionally honking. At the bottom of this post, Fault Code 00907 Intervention load Management. The code is transitory and can be removed by the diagnostics itself if the situation improves. Which is why its not been spotted when I've done some checks previously.

Just confirming at the moment it is (Been driving the Scirocco at the moment, so the battery has too much change, so no honking sound.)

00907 - Intervention load Management

Fault code has self cleared as anticipated. Battery voltage without the engine running reading through VCDS was 11.60 volts. Today after driving a little yesterday/today, 11.90 volts.

The honking noise didn't happen today!
