I am looking for a cleaner that is just for cleaning old layers of wax or sealant.

i got some kind of waxy residuo on the surface but i don;t need any abrasion or polishing action at all. I have no idea where they came from. its very hard to shift them.

i am also thinking, would something like tardis would be better than pre-wax cleaners? since all cleaners somehow, contains some kind of abrasive property.

i need just the cleaning power of a liquid. what about Iron X? i will be getting some because i am well covered by some small orange pin head spots.


and what is the difference between glaze and pre-wax cleaners?

Tardis will strip all your wax and sealant of but be carefull as it will also have a go at any glued on parts like trim and badges so be carefull with it. You could try claying. Dodo juice lime prime light is pre wax cleanser with no abrassives in it. Autoglym also do a HD cleanser kit with everthing you need.

A clay bar would remove all you contaminants and prep the paint ready to apply your paint cleanser and last stage product.

yes i have some clay bar but not got round to use it yet. only now there are enough tarspots to warrant a full claying job. ok, the weather was too cold as well and i was too lazy!

i am thinking at the moment, i am thinking of a product that clenses the old layer as some panels are still very free of any solid contaminant.

But those orange spots do concern me.

so what is a glaze? is it a slightly abrasive cleanser?

Iron X will sort your orange spot issues out. I had exactly the same on mine back in the summer. If you do buy a bottle watch out for the smell!!

By using Tardis, Iron X and claying the car all the tiny surface marks were removed, joys of a White car they stand out so easily.

As already mentioned if you are worried about abrasives the Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite is a good one for cleaning the paint.

From my understanding a glaze is another form of synthetic protection that is applied after the cleaning stage but before the waxing stage. Personally I use the Jeffs Werkstat 3 stage kit on mine. If you look at it online it comes with a bottle of Prime which is the cleaner stage, Acrylic Jett Trigger is the sealant/glaze stage then Acrylic Gloss is effectively what would be the waxing stage.

What I did when I was looking for new products was go on detailingworld website and search for Candy White. Lots of people asking the same question - what's best to use on White paintwork and you'll see loads of pics and write ups of what products they used.
It's all down to personal choice really and how much time you have to spend on cleaning.

Once the weather warms up a little I'll be giving mine the full treatment again but will set aside a full day to do it properly.

yeah i have done all that and i have the Werkstett products as well. They really makes the surface like a mirror!

however, i did notice there are some 'solidified residues' on the surface. Not much and you need fingernails to scratch them off. Bit like allowing the wax to dry without buffing.

This was why i was looking for a non-abrasive liquid cleanser.

However, i use the Nanolex sealant on my roof and bonnet, just to see how they compare. I am also impressed by the fact that just water from the rain is enough to shift dirt when the car moves.
