RNS510 C Fitted but no MFD

Just finished upgrading my RCD510 to the RNS510 version C and it all works fine except,
I can no longer control the tracks exc with the steering wheel and no tracks or radio stations are displayed on the MFD.
The volume control on the steering wheel works as does the mute button.
Ive also tried to reboot the RNS as suggested in other topics but if I hold < > * nothing happens.
I also held the setup button but it never enters the hidden menu.
Any suggestions?

You need to use VCDS to code the car that it has a RNS unit, same for the hidden test menu it has to be activated through VCDS.

As above it needs programming, you also may need to enable BAP protocol on the RNS if you have a newer rocco.

I have vcds and selected in the can the nav option.
I think I remember seeing Bap selected already but i'll have another look.
Just been out and ran a scan, quite a few faults listed at the top but one unrelated in the details below for the alarm.
The hidden menu has just worked! but should i have the media player 3 listed? what is this?
Any ideas

Success!!!!!
Had a look on VWNAVI forum and a poster had said to switch off or untick BAP with VCDS. Mine was ticked originally. I was also having trouble rebooting which is necessary to make any changes take effect. Instead of < > and the star button at exactly the same time if you press the star button just before the < > it reboots.
you will know it works as the time displayed on the MFD will shift from the centre to the right. When you use the steering wheel menu button the display cycles through AUDIO, NAVIGATION, CONVENIENCE.
I quick scan for fault codes and they are all gone except for my unrelated Alarm fault which will need looked at by the dealer.
