Remote start would be experimental / a first

How about having a webasto or simular remote controlled oven installed? Can be timer controlled as well.

The Touareg has this as an option @ £785 which also upgrades the fuel tank to 100 litres. Not sure whats involved and how much you could use on a roc but maybe a dealer has more info. Obv you wouldnt get the uprated fuel tank unless you fancy losing your boot :D

Be aware that adding something like this yourself could completely invalidate your insurance.

Read up on this first and check with your insurance, the use of inteli start used to require the removal of the current OEM imobiliser ( turning off with VAG Commander) or by sticking the Transponder from the key at the side of the ignition barrel, doing both of these will invalidate your car insurance, and the clifford is not (or wasnt) insurance approved when inteli start is activated (or even installed), proper minefiled, personally if i was a bothered as you seem to be about the cold mornings i would buy a proper pre heat system that does not use the car engine to warm the car.

There isn't an insurance approved aftermarket remote start system on the market. IIRC Thatcham require such a system to actively prevent drive, just leaving the doors locked is not acceptable.
Clifford Intellistart still requires the keyfob transponder to be hardwired into the system

My viper alarm in my previous car was thatcham approved and had remote start. The engine would start and run for 15 mins but the doors would remain locked and the alarm active. If you pressed the brake pedal to select a gear the engine would just cut out. Every insurance company accepted the alarm as they do for my dads Clifford alarm with remote start.
