Just a quick one peeps, was driving home from work this evening and all of a sudden a *ding* (I initially thought it was low fuel) but realised the tyre pressure light had popped on.

Parked up and had a look at the tyres (albeit they weren't cold). One of them must of dropped in pressure slightly hence the announcement. If thats the case how do I turn the light off the dash??? Do I just reset the tyre pressures before turning the ignition on and it will disappear?

How do you know which tyre it is?

I don't that's the thing. MFD doesn't say anything, just the dash light has lit up. Help anyone? Hopefully its not a puncture, need the car for work tomorrow

On the glove box aperture there is a switch in the in the top corner nearest the centre console. Just below it in the top of the glove box is a stowage shelf for the instructions manuals.

It's not as clever as that. Climb out and inspect each tyre for deflation to see if one is down on pressure test/visual inspection. It's reasonably sensitive to a pressure drop. A change of about 5 psi where it starts to activate. Any less and tyre pressure changes due to running heat come into play.

PS, have you recently swapped tyres over, had a repair, had new tyres on or had new wheels on etc ?

Nope blue, no new tyres or anything. Just strange it turned on. Do you mean the switch sitting next to the comfort/sport button? Cheeky thought I'd ask here as was online .

Just checked the tyres when I got back from work, still pretty firm. What you guys reckon caused it to light up?

Did you load the car up with the engine running? The reason I ask is when I returned from holidays I'd left my car in my dads garage . Got the Roc out and left it running on the drive while I transferred 2 large suitcases and a( not so large missus) from my dads car. We set off down the road and 2 minutes later the tyre pressure warning came on. Oh bugger - must have a puncture. Got out and checked all seemed OK. Got home and read the manual for once and it does say that the system will detect changes in weight. Next day all was fine and hasn't happened since.

the tyre pressure monitor switch was in the cluster in front of the gear stick on early cars before it was moved to its location in the glove box.

Yep, mines an 09 Roc and the tyre pressure switch is in front of the gear stick. This is the right switch to reset and turn off the tyre pressure warning lamp right?

Shouldn't you pop to the nearest garage and actually check the pressures before resetting with the switch?
I mean, it takes 5 mins maximum and isn't that why there is the indicator in the first place.

Agree with the above comment regarding checking the pressures. Mine has activated twice in just over a year, both times after driving down the same dual carriageway with lots of roundabouts, so I put it down to heat build up in the front tyres. But I did stop and check all the tyres both times. The system isn't foolproof but it's a good early warning sign of a possible problem with the tyres. Well worth the very small cost as with low profile tyres a visual look won't give you a clue of a small difference in pressure or slow puncture. A pressure gauge is cheap to buy & leave in the car. And you all check your pressures every week or before a long journey don't you?
