Hi,

What's the best way to listen to DAB radio in the car if you haven't got the DAB radio option on the RCD510?

Unfortunately, I didn't choose the DAB option when I ordered the car.

I was thinking about purchasing the "PURE PocketDAB 1500 Personal Rechargeable DAB/FM Radio" and connecting it through the AUX input. It's £100 cheaper than the DAB option and I would be able to use the DAB radio when I'm out of the car.

Amazon are selling it for £75 and it has good reviews as a personal DAB radio.

Has anyone used this radio? What's the quality like?

i am doing this right now. Not the best solution because i often get 'grey patches' on a journey, and it looses reception altogether.

there are 2 key considerations - buy a player that uses AA batteries. I have a small DAB ( 35 quid from asda) that uses AAA x 2 and within an hour, its finished. Now i use the old house one ( takes AAx2) and it lasts longer.

other thing is the length of the cable from the AUX socket to the player - the longer the better because this also acts as an arial.

as the Roc has no sunroof unlike my old car, best to put the player onthe dashboard. Get one of those small black rubber mats to stop it from sliding. This way, the cable is extended. Even better if you can loop the cable around the rearview mirror then towards the dash.

if you leave it behind the ESP ACC buttons, the reception is not good at all.
