I see the AUTO button on the climatronic panel has two LEDs, what are the settings associated with them?
(New Climatronic panel, as in Golf VI).

First is low air flow, second high flow auto mode.

Nope, that's not it.

So would this be useful to quickly cool down / heat up the car as you start driving? Does it switch back to low air flow after a while?
Or should one use the LO / HI setting on the temperature dial to get this effect (just noticed this)?

First light on the left puts the air flow direction on to auto i.e which air vents are used, press it again then then fan speed also goes in to auto. Essentially the second setting is full climate control.

I keep ducking into this thread to see if anyone has actually done this yet and am continually dissapointed! Surely someone has actually installed one???

That climatronic panel is so ugly - are these now standard fit on the new Sciroccos? I hope not.

Its not that bad.. well I've seen worse but sadly yes they are.
Saying that does it only come on the gti mk6 as don't the other trim levels only come with rcd310?
Also Evil Derboy, done what? I'm probably being slow and missed something.

BAD VW! That looks like it belongs on an "ALDI TT" (Hyundai coupe) or some other Korean cheapy. I much prefer the old one with the 2 small screens. I'd gladly give up the newer steering wheel to not have that at the bottom of the dash. I can't believe how cheap it looks.

The pretty bit is the way it uses the RCD510 display....
Doesn't add any functionality, but looks nice on the screen.
Shame it's got so many "spare" buttons.

The left light on the auto button is a setting that will take longer to get to your desired temperature, if you press it again the right light will illuminate and it will set to your temperature quicker but be louder because the fans will be blowing on a more powerful setting.
...now, if anyone knows what the light under the "A" is on the recirculation button i would be grateful, have no idea how to get it lit or what it does!
(second button from the right on the top row)

I think I can answer that one
It's the air recirculation control .First press is on (to prevent fumes entering the car). Second press is for automatic recirculation . Air quality sensor will switch to recirculate when it detects fumes
God I'm sad ! I've spent to much time

No. The 2nd light lights up when you press it the 2nd time to show the auto recirc is active.

The new panel looks a bit different in the Scirocco than in the Golf Mk6, the silver frame is still there. Also, the piano black lacquer finish of the inner panel matches the touchscreen frame above and the black air vents (with the sport package). All in all it looks good, although I also liked the look of the original panel (maybe except the small temperature LCDs and the seat heating knobs).

I'm wondering if my 'rocco is a weird spec, it's a 2009 model with the 2 temperature screen climate but new style steering wheel?

I presume you mean this climate control model Mannors
old climate.jpg
this was changed out for the new style in the post above from week 45 build in 2009 (search week 45 changes if you want to understand more)
i'm not sure how much you know about model years but yours is a MY (model year) 2010 pre week 45, I have dated based on the steering wheel & climate control (its sometimes handy to know that its pre week 45 as its easier to make changes with vagcom (should you want/need to) than post week 45.
MY2010 began production in april/may last year (around week 23) [changing the steeling wheel & mfd from red to white plus other bits & pieces] & then the 'half year changes' were brought in at week 45 (climate control & a few other minor things)
S
anyway back on topic
