Key Fob - Strange Problem

Had a strange problem today with one of our key fob's.....
It would lock the car,
open the boot but not unlock the car. 
....very strange 
After we looked into it a bit further we found that the battery was almost flat in the key fob.......nobody could explain why it would lock the car and open the boot though.
We just got the battery replaced and it all works again ..
....... so beware....
