Ok, this evening I just updated my firmware to the latest version 2720, and although it seems to work (no lost settings, maps or music), I've not noticed anything different about it(!) I'll have a play over the weekend and report back with a follow up post.

I noticed a few issues last night. After using the car, the gps was stuck in germany, and didn't move. I assumed it was because it was only fixing on about 3 or 4 satelites. I left it for an hour or so, and when I got back in the car it was in the right location. But again it didn't track my car movements. Anyway I decided to take the car out somewhere without buildings, and after about 15 minutes, it finally started tracking the car again, but would occasionally stop tracking, even though satelites were found.

I did a factory reset on the nav part of the rns510, and it seems to be ok now, but I'm still cautious about this upgrade. I'm going away for the weekend (somewhere I know how to get to luckily!) so will have more of a play with it then, and see if it's reliably back to normal now. Will be taking my old firmware, laptop, vagcom etc just in case!!

I'll follow up again over the weekend, so anyone thinking about the upgrade may want to hold out until then.

For reference, I have a RNS510 revision B unit (I think), with V6 maps and v2660 firmware prior to the upgrade.

If you had 2660 before it was a C version as that upgrade takes B to C.

Can you still access the "secret" menu after the update? download source?

Not sure about the secret menu, nor checked - though I never used it before anyway.

The download source is the megaupload link. (Don't know exactly where it originated from).

Anyhow, it seems it all works fine now. It looked like I simply needed to reset the navigation settings and now I don't get the problem I listed earlier.
