i have installed 2680

i used the files from rapidshare that are posted as link on the my-gti website.
if you just burn the files to disk, the following will happen:
* the firmware will succesfully upgrade to 2680 i.e. the files are not corrupted or dodgy...
just make sure you burn it on the slowest speed!
* you will boot up for the first time in GERMAN!
you will need to put your navigation disk in!
(i used this as an oppertunity to load v6 maps and the newest speed camera locations

)
once you have done this, go to setup; system and change language back to english. it wont let you do this without a nav disk... which is odd.
* your colour scheme/skin will be different! there are 3 different skins for your rns 510. the factory for the scirocco is "sportline". the firmware will change it to "highline", which i actually quite like to be honest. if you really don't like it though, you can change it back... but your gonna need vag com to do it.
see link for a gallery of all three colour schemes:
http://picasaweb.google.de/sportline155/RNS510Mod09#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
*the reverse sensors page looks a bit nicer, however this could just be the colour scheme...
*if you didn't have voice control before, now you do! however i cant get mine to work lol... i think there is something u need to enable in vag com. i have a microphone cos i have premium bluetooth. however when i say "navigation" or "media" it doesn't appear to hear/understand me... by the way i don't have an accent lol.
*boot up and operation speed does appear to be a bit quicker.
*lastly, if your gonna upgrade to this firmware, its a good chance to allow the "secret menu" option. this is done my changing some of the coding in one of the files on the .nrg image. its not difficult to do but you may find it hard to open the file with notepad at first in order to change it... i had to alter the registry on my vista machine in order to allow the file to be opened with notepad...
secret menu doesn't really done anything special... but if ur geeky enough to wanna change the firmware, you'll wanna change this too!
hope this helped
