About to trade up from a Golf GT 170ps TSI to a Scirocco 200ps.

A few comments on the TSI 'TwinCharger' engine :

> Lots of power, pulls well when boost engages
> Economical - 43mpg with a 'medium' right foot
> Nice roar on acceleration

Whats not so good?

> Jerky transition when boost engages
> Loss of power when boost doesnt configure itself properly
> Generally, confidence unispiring boost transition

Bottom line? I should have gone for a GTI - the 1.4 tsi just doesnt perform consistently across driving styles, at least for a 'sports'car anyway.

Another concern is did they overrate the Golf GT power output. I notice the Scirocco TSI is only 160ps

Looking forward to a conventional turbo 2.0 with no boost issues

My experience over 2 years of ownership of a TwinCharger engine for what its worth.
If you get the chance to test drive a 1.4 Scirocco, make sure its long and varied.
Hopefully the 1.4 engine has been refined since its launch.

Hope this gives some insight & helps with deciding on which engine for a Scirocco

Excellent read, not heard much in depth feedback on this engine.
