Scirocco Central

Hello.

I've got a Scirocco 1.4l TSI -10 that has a flashing "DCC"-button, you know the one that has option for driving modes such as "Comfort" and "Sport".

I have been trying to read through the posts made on this forum about this fault but I have yet to find someone who truly seem to know what causes it. So I will try myself to see if anyone knows and I would be very appreciative for any help!

I haven't been able to re-create it but somewhere mid-drive it seems to start flashing. I do not know when it starts as it, to me at least, seems very random.

My DCC light flashes constantly - the VW Dealership diagnosed it as a sheared sensor wire when it was in earlier in the year for a DSG service. So I’d suspect that you have a dodgy sensor or perhaps a loose sensor if it only flashes sometimes?

I’ve not replaced my one yet as a new sensor from VW was quite expensive for the part and it didn’t affect the car’s MOT.
I don’t know if that’s any help to you…

There is no single cause, but as Snug335 suggests, possibly a sensor fault. As in the case of any fault indication, the first diagnostic step would be to interrogate the fault memory, which should hopefully pinpoint or at least narrow down the fault

I'm sorry to bump the thread but I thought I could ask again since I've tried the above. I've tried to read any fault codes on the car but it has given nothing. There is no apparent fault, I don't feel it while driving and it also doesn't show as a fault in the dash.
Is there a way to catch a "dodgy sensor" as suggested above? Like for example, how would I know there is a sensor that has gone bad? Or if there would be a sheared sensor wire?

What kind of fault code reader do you have? I'm guessing you might need a more advanced system to pick up fault codes associated with DCC?

If you can access a set of ramps or jack the car up at each corner it should be easy enough to check or locate the sensors. My understanding is there is a sensor at each wheel. Another name for it could be the headlight levelling sensor - that’s what VW called it on my inspection. It looked a green colour and on the rear it was located just above the suspension arm.
They were quoting over £300 to replace the one sensor with 30 minutes labour hence why I didn’t pursue that repair.
From what I’ve seen you can get cheaper sensor replacements online.
It could be you need the DCC to be flashing when you plug your diagnostics in if you have an intermittent issue too.

I sometimes get this when starting the car up. Turning the engine off and back on again solves it. Hopefully it's nothing more ominous!

My reply is super late but I just wanted to show my appreciation and thank for the answers.
The issue was the headlight levelling sensor on the left side, the green arm had snapped.
For others who come across the same problem I did, with my limited mechanical skills, manage to swap the part out by just jacking the one side the sensor was located, popped the wheel off and there it was.
I bought a replacement part with partcode 3C0412521B. It worked, but it wasn't entirely correct. Some small metal brackets that didn't completely line up.
