Anyone upgraded to an MIB / MIB2 unit with Android Auto ?

Post by uklee »

As per the title - had anyone in here replaced their older RNS310/510 head unit with the later VW MIB / MIB2 unit with Android Auto ?

I've had a pretty disastrous experience (see my recent other thread) with an Android unit - mainly due to the Dynaudio amp in my car .
VW have stopped supporting map updates for the RNS510 and the navigation is a feature that I use a lot on my car. I'd really like an integrated solution and a head unit with Android Auto (thereby accessing Google maps etc) is the way to go.

I know they're not cheap , but my 'Rocco is a keeper (I've owned it since new in 2013) and so i'm interested to know if its feasible to upgrade to one of the android auto units in the newer models.

Has anyone done it ?

What's involved ? - plug & play ?
