Trouble removing my trim around the stereo (2017 R-LINE TDI)

Hi everyone

I've searched the entire Internet, but there's not a single video / tutorial of a FACELIFT Scirocco trim removal around the head unit. The difference isn't massive to pre-facelift, BUT, the pre-facelift head units seem much easier to remove as the air vents had a separate plastic trim around them, and that same piece wasn't surrounding the head unit. My 17 R-Line has one big plastic trim piece around the head unit, as well as going around the air vents now. It's such a PAAAIIINNNN.

I'm trying to replace my digitiser, as the screen is completely dead, except one little corner which makes it useless. Currently having to use an aux cord to play music, so I can't skip songs using the steering wheel or anything. It's the stone ages out here.

Anyways, I cannot for the life of me get the trim around the head unit off. I've removed 95% of it, but the bit below the air vents is the part I'm struggling with. There are some clips that look like they just pull forward, but they aren't coming off. Can anyone please help me out? I would be so grateful 🙏

Update for the rare person needing it - i purchased the online manual for 2015 onwards roccos, and it has a guide for how to do it. You need a 3438 t-handle hook to remove the airbag button first. Let me know if you want screenshots!

Oh man I'm so sorry! I rarely check this!!!

Right so - it took me about 2 hours. Not gonna lie. I needed the following:
Plastic trim removal tools
New digitiser obviously
Torx screwdriver set (there's a few different sizes screws)

Please note the first thing you gotta do is disconnect the battery from the negative terminal for safety reasons!

You have to unclip the airbag button from between the top vents first - it's impossible to get the plastic trim off until that airbag button has been removed. Also, be mindful to cover your gear stick with some foam or plastic or ANYTHING to stop the leather getting scratched. Lesson learned. The head unit is super heavy and you're gonna wanna set it down, especially to get the wiring off.

I realise I cant actually post screenshots here!! Please private message me with some kinda social you have or an email address and I'll happily send you the screenshots of the scirocco guide on the process!!!
