Replacing head unit

Hi guys,

I'm looking for some advice on replacing the head unit in my 2016 Scirocco 2.0 TDi R-Line. I'm told the standard head unit in it is a MIB STD 2 unit - I've attached a pic. Its stopped working recently - it will no longer power on at all but randomly does come on sometimes and works fine. I've looked in to having it repaired but been told it's not worth it and would be mega expensive £450+ and the fault will likely come back. Main board issue or something...

So I've been told the best option is to replace it with an aftermarket unit. I'm fine with this as long as I can find one that will work with all the steering wheel buttons and also the main display on the dash (between the rev counter and speedo there is a display that works with the NAV and radio etc).

I've been told there are android units on the market for only £150-200. I don't mind spending a bit more but my main aim is to preserve the stock functionality of steering wheel buttons and display on the dash.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for this issue?

Thanks!

I installed an Eonon Q53Pro2 in my Euro 2008 build, to replace an RNS510. Buttons work as you asked. Only potential downside is that there is no built in Nav. Relies on phone to provide that using CarPlay/Android Auto. Install is simple plug and play.
