Registering puddle lights on canbus

Just fitted under door puddle lights , I think I have to enter the registry because they don’t work. How do I do this and how do I connect a laptop to the car? 2015 scirocco diesel . I’m old and no completely computer savi ,DHooooo ! Rocket.
