1.4 TSI (160) - Damaged Cylinder Walls

Hi All, I'm hoping for some advice.

I have just got my 1.4TSI Twinchared (160) back from the garage after it developed a misfire and started chucking out heavy smoke.
Upon teardown, they came across Cylinder wall damage to cylinder 2 and a supposed cracked piston (See Images)

The garage had quoted silly money to replace the engine with a new or a used one therefore I was wondering if I have any other options to save this engine without breaking the bank. speaking to someone previously they mentioned re-sleeving the cylinders, is this possible with this engine? if so has anyone done so previously and could give any feedback on this.

The car has only done 80,000 miles and cared for well during the 2 years I have had it so would seem a real shame to have to sell/break.

I have the car back now so will be able to get some better pictures if required as the ones the garage sent were not the best seemingly.
Any Info Would be appreciated. Best Regards Woakester97

If you search this forum and many other VAG forums, you will discover that your experience with the 1.4 twin charger engine is not a rare one.
