Hello and I"ve just arrived as a newbie on here with my 2012 1.4 tsi. but I do need some guidance from those in the know. Whining noise from ca 40mph up, replaced all 4 tyres and rear shocks so what next ??? Service is good, runs great, just done 2 x trips to Denmark in the last 4 weeks, 750 miles each way but that whiny/howling noise does still worry me. Any of the wise ones who can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.
regards Stan

If you've ruled out the rear tyres, then I would have the rear wheel bearings checked. In my experience, even if there is no play in them they can drone.

Thanks. I'll add that to tracking plus I'm looking at tyre makes as well.

For what it's worth I'm running Michelin PS4S and they are quieter that the OEM Pirelli P Zeros that I was using previously.

Thanks, right now I have a mongrel mix on it, think I"ll start with swap wheels back to front the tracking, if I get any difference then it"s in the right direction, no difference means I keep trying,, will post my findings as I go

Problem solved,,,,,,,, turns out the rear wheels were not balanced when the tyres were replaced. Now done and what a difference. Thanks for your input guys much appreciated.

Glad it was a simple fix.
