Hi, I am looking at a Volkswagen Scirocco 2.0 TDI GT 3dr (09 - 11) tomorrow, what should I look out for its on a 10 plate does that have the bad tensioner (had a mk6 GTI previously)

Im not the best mechancially but can follow a lead and good tips or a previous buyers guide for one? Car has 120k on the clock but has had DSG oil changed and has good service history

Also it has a winter pack what does that entail?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, looking forward to beign part of the community!

Diesel uses a cambelt not a cam chain like the MK6 GTI therefore tensioner is not an issue, however it is recommended the belt is changed every 5 years, irrespective of mileage. Check when it was last changed.

If the car is a DSG, the gearbox requires an oil and filter change every 40k miles.

Winter pack consists of the following but depends on other spec. ;
- Low washer fluid warning
- Heated seats (cloth trim). Standard with leather trim option.
- Headlight washers (halogen headlights). Standard with Xenon headlight option.

Gentleman thanks alot! My cousin said its got a belt but didnt make the connection thought both must of had a tensioner :)

The dsg box has 10k before th enext service i was told and it has leather!

I had the Xenon on my GTI and had problems with the bend lighting do these have that do you know? Also I seen Cupra in your name so any recommended upgrades mt, i seen the stage 1 adds about 30 bhp which would take me back to the 200 mark im used to, would defo like the power upgrade but are they known to break with them do you know?

The Xenons on the Scirocco have a static cornering light.

There is some good information in the Roccopedia section of the website.

Sorry, I can't comment on the remap. The Cupra reference is from a long time ago :)

One thing to find out is if the car has had the emissions update carried out on it. I've never had it done on mine as many owners who did get it done said the car never drove as good after the update. I never wanted to take the risk.
