MFD menu options - need help with understanding.

Hello there!
I'm looking for someone to help me understand the MFD menu in regards to fuel consumption.

There are 3 options, current fuel consumption while you're driving, as well as an option with 1 & 2 fuel consumption info.
As far as I can understand, the 2nd option is a "total"? fuel consumption in regards to how much I've driven?
However what's the 1st option, it does change very ofter, but, in what regards? Every 5 min? Every 1 min?

Anyone know any specifics?

Sorry if I'm not very clear with it.

Another thing that's been bothering me is that I've switched to Scirocco from an Astra H model, in which I had the option to "see" in the comp menu how much fuel I've wasted so far, so I always knew that (with my driving style) 10l would equal to 70-80km in urban area. So for example If i tanked 10l, I'd know from the comp menu that I've driven 9l and would be the time to tank etc.

Here, I'm pretty confused. Yes, it shows l/km (I'm using metrics), but it's not how much I've wasted so far, but more like "current" consumption.

Cheers and thank you for your time

There is an instantaneous fuel consumption figure, which in reality is almost useless.

There are 2 average fuel economy figures available:

Option 1 refers to the current journey, which is reset after the ignition has been switched off for approx 2 hours. It gives distance, time and average mpg for that journey. It changes quite frequently because it's calculating it over a relatively short distance. As the journey goes on the value settles down. "1" displayed on the top right hand of MFD.

Option 2 is the is the same information but doesn't reset until your either reset it or the time elapsed is 99h 59m, so effectively long term data. "2" displayed on the top right hand of MFD.

Although the Scirocco doesn't tell you how much fuel you've used like the Astra, it gives you a Range value whereas it gives you an estimate on how many miles you can travel on what fuel is left in the tank based on your recent average fuel economy.

I recommend you have a read of the owners manual as it's all explained in there.

Thanks for the reply, now I understand clearly what those options mean :)

Any thoughts on the second part of my question maybe? Is such option even available in Scirocco?

I've updated the post to refer to the "Range" value display.

Thanks, will read it as soon as I find it.

One last question, as I couldn't find straight answer. By the moment the reserve fuel light switches on, how much fuel is left approximately?
I know the tank has a total of 55l. I've found info such as 7-17l, as in, additional to the 55 before the light switches on?

There is no reserve as such, the tank holds approx 55 litres and the low fuel warning light comes on when there is around 5 litres left in the tank. Obviously you can get a few extra litres of fuel in by filling to the brim but I wouldn't recommend as fuel needs space to expand.
