New owner help

I am going to look at a 2010 scirocco r tomorrow and had a few questions

Do they all come with xenon lights as standard ?
Do the dsg models all have paddles on the steering wheel ?

The car doesn’t have cruise control , is this hard to retrofit ?

Is there anything I need to be aware of with a model of this age ?

What do you think ?
I’ve spoken to the guy who’s selling it , he bought the car 5 years ago and sold it to an older gent who’s now now asked him to sell again. He’s hardly used it.

The service history and MOT seem to correspond

It might be genuine but make sure you do all the paperwork checks! I’d definitely be haggling on the price too.

Good luck

What checks would you recommend?

The dealer is driving a real hard bargain , he said she’s not accepting any offers as it is under priced compared to what’s out there. He wouldn’t even take a deposit. He said the first to come can have it as he has so much interest

Do you happen to know if the xenons are standard on those cars and the paddles on the steering wheel ?

Cheers for heads up
Is there anything I need to lookout for ?
What do you think of the car I might go view

Car looks a nice example.

Although the mileage is low, VW UK recommend the cambelt is changed every 5 years, irrespective of mileage, therefore if it was changed on schedule in 2015 it will be due to be done again this year.

Also, check when the DSG last had an oil and filter change The recommended schedule is every 40k miles / 4 years, so again check whennitvwas last done, if it has been done at all as a lot of owners who do low mileages tend to ignore time related schedules.

With regards to cruise control question in your original post, on a 2010 retrofitting it is relatively straightforward on a 2010 car. Details in the thread linked below;

I’ll be honest i don’t think either have been done
How much would we be talking by an independtant ?

Is there a way to tell if the dsg has an issue when test driving

Cambelt and waterpump would be £350 - £400 and DSG service would be around £175.

The only way to tell with the DSG is that the grearchanges are nice and smooth and there arebno strange clunking noises.

Thanks for taking the time to explain..... I was looking for a golf then I seen this and thought it was a good price for the miles etc.

Do you think I would be better sitting tight and waiting to see if a cheaper one comes up ?

There's actually not that many Scirocco R models out there so it's a risk.

That’s what I thought .... I’m going to go see it tomorrow.

Do you think they have hit bottom in depreciation or still have some to go ?

I honestly don't know. The rarity will keep prices of the R model strong but I expect general prices to drop in a few months when the reality of the financial consequences of this pandemic become apparent.

It’s a tough one .... I will go see it and see how I feel.

I’ve been reading the used car industry it’s currently booming .... I put my old a3 on eBay yesterday and I’ve had so many people inquiring

I think the boom is going to be short lived.

I ended up getting the car
I was very impressed with the condition and all the paperwork was in place.

The car had cruise control which was an added bonus
