Loose steering wheel

Hi Guys,
Looking for some advice.
Purchased a 2013 scirorco Gts dsg with 30k miles last week.
I purchased from stoke and live in glasgow and on the drive home I felt that steering wheel was loose like wobbly / shaky, even more so at 60mph and above. It feels as though any movement in the road and the tyres want to move themselves. Strangly enough though it seems composed and tight going around corners. When sitting centre (striaght ahead) it just feels loose and wobbly.
Even at low speeds on the road its the same. There is also a pull to the left and alingment is off. I had that done 2 days ago however it seems even worse (sitting to left).
Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Reading up on it the symptoms sound like perhaps worn inner or outer tie rod ends? My knowledge of cars is zero though and the thought of driving it back to stoke to have them check it is daunting but will need to do it anyway for them to fix it. Just looking for some info on what it could be before actually making the journey (may find a garage in glasgow cheaper and send the stoke garage the bill).
