RNS 315 - Joying

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of buying a March 2013 Scirocco GTS and was wondering if anyone knew if you could change the RNS 315 to an aftermarket unit such as the Joying Android?

If so, is it quite easy or rather difficult?

Hey,

Sorry I can’t help answer your question, but I’m interested in chatting with someone on here who has a GTS. I’ve got a brand new one, which I bought in September ‘67’ plate. I want to do some mods.

Actually, it's pretty damn easy. Everything is bolt on, all the cables, adapters, can-box etc are included by Joying. Mine is already 1 year old, and it's one of my best investments.
If you have other questions after you buy it, feel free to send a message.
Cheers.

David, it seems I can't yet use private messages. I'll look at the link you gave me and get back to you.

No worries thanks a lot man! Is your rocco registered after 2011? I think they changed the wiring after this as I was initally looking at the Xtron units but they say only compatable until 2011 models.

Then again - I know nothing about cars or wiring etc!

The RNS315 is compatible with the Joying unit. Even if the wiring on the Joying unit looks different, it comes with a VW compatible wiring, so no worries.

Okay thanks a lot so is it as simple as plug and play or is any wire cutting needed?

I Have fitted a Wince Caska aftermarket unit in my 2013 Roc and it was direct plug and play. Most of these manufacturers include a cable that converts your canbus cable to whatever socket is on the deck.Image

Do you lose any functionality ? Such as the MFD display for phone and music playing ?

Im looking at upgrading to an android one. There's so much that you can do with android as opposed to WinCe.
