Hello to all. I'm pissed now really becquse of this sht. I have a rocco tsi 118. So the thing is that car vibrates as crazy from 90 kmh above. Not sure if steering wheel vibrates also. I got a feeling that whole car is vibrating, from front side. I tought that wheels are problem, but month ago I bought new wheels, new tyres (225-40-18), and got them balanced. Problem was the same after that. When driving, I got very loug knocking over the little sharp holes. Over the bumps, bigger, not. I dont know is this is related or not. When driving around 110 kmh, vibrations are strong, but fades little if wheel is turned left or right slightly. And reduces if throttle is added, and goes crazy when throtle is let off. Also reduces if using brakes to slow down. Also, when turning wheel in place, you can hear slight little knocks knocks a few timein one full cycle of wheel turning from side to side. I.e., if Im going down from driveway at home to the road, over that bump with straight steering wheel, knock is very loud. But if I turn the wheel all the way to left or right, no koncking. And one more simptom, when you are prepairing to turn for example to right from road to street, and shift from 5th to second tu turn, and when releasing cluctch and adding throttle to continue to drive in 2nd gear, you can also hear some click sound. Any body familiar with this? I was at the mechanic, he couldnt find anything. He told me that is maybe strut bearing??

Sounds to me like you have a broken front coil spring. Get it up on two post ramp and check.common on mk5 golf.

Is possible that mechqnic wouldnt see that? And wouldnt car be lean to one side than?

Car is on hr springs btw

The mechanic would have noticed that, are all your wheel bearings in good order?

What's the centre bore on the new wheels? Do you need Spigot rings?

Are you using spacers?

Non hubcentric spacers are notorious for causing vibrations.

If not, double check all wheel bolts are tight.

If the OP doesn't reply, I'm assuming his wheels fell off. If so, get well soon.

Nooo, wheels are still on the car, and I`m still alive Yes, I have spacers. I think they`re 15mm. And when changeing wheels, we put rings for center bore. Maybe the spacer didn`t sat well? But that wouldnt explain knocking when vibrating :/ I have to try to remove the front spacers, and than try.

It would as the wheel will move slightly on the bolts, you get the same symptoms when a wheels not been fully torqued up.

What style of spacers are you using? Hubcentric or just the standard jobbies? Were they fitted originally? Can you run the wheels without the spacers just to ommit them?

Are the rings for the centre bore snug on the wheel/hub/spacer?

If it's a cracked spring now you need a new mechanic haha

I had spacers on car since I bought it. And now I can`t remember any more when exactly vibrating started, but I think when changed to winter wheels. And not immediatelly, but one week later when crossing wheels from side to side. I tought first that wheels or tyres winter are problematic. But now is the same with new wheels and new tyres. And when guy was balanceing them, he told me that they are almost perfect, and that almost wouldnt need balancig at all. But he did it anyway. and vibratrion is still present. maybe is really problem with spacers. maybe the are not at the same position as theywere when I bought the car

Are they hubcentric or generic?

Check the wear on your tyres as well to rule out sawtoothing
