Hello,

I recently purchased a 1.4 TSI scirocco from a used car dealer less than a week ago. Yesterday the engine light came on and I had the car scanned to see the problem. I received the following faulty codes:

-00022 Bank 1 CMP Sensor
-G40 Engine Speed Sensor
-G28 Incorrect Correlation.

I was told that this error was due to my timing chain being stretched and if this was the case it would cost around £700 to repair. Bare in mind it wasn't actually inspected. I then called the dealer as I believe the car is still under warranty and I was told its a service issue and that I can bring it down for the mechanic to have a look at and he will offer me a better deal but he wont pay for the repairs if required. In my opinion, the car drives fine and I haven't heard any strange noises suggesting something is broken or out of place. So now im not sure what to do next. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd have someone look at it to determine the severity of the issue, if it's bad then bring up the whole selling in good working condition malarkey and have the work done under warranty!
