a quick google can't provide an answer...
Is there a recommended mileage for replacing a clutch? I'm getting the dreaded squeel (I don't think it's covered by warranty now due to age, '58 plate?) and thought maybe I could replace it at the same time.
Car is on 66.8k and currently has no sign of slipping clutch.

No specific mileage as it all comes down to driving style.

No worries, it is starting to feel a tad heavy and pulling away doesnt feel as smooth but I think some of it could be psychological due to trying to avoid the squeal.
edit:
Also thinking down the road to get a stage1, is a "sports" clutch needed for this?

it depends on the age of your clutch, but generally no. Upgraded clutch not needed to stage 1.

The squeal itself is usually caused by a leaking slave cylinder which is covered on warranty including the labor then just ask them to fit a new clutch while they are there for parts cost
The slave cylinder leaks onto the release bearing making it squeal eventually wearing it out.
