Hi there, just bought a 2012 GT Tdi 2.0 model. it has come with this strange button system next to the gearbox.
When the car is started it makes a continuous beeping noise until the Green button is pressed. It then stops and doesn't beep again until you turn the engine back on etc. The red button seems to do nothing apart from flash red once when pressed? The dealer I bought it from said he was aware it was in the car but not sure what it was? He didn't want to remove it as it has a cable/electrical chip type thing running down into the gearbox as seen in the pictures? We both agreed that this must be something fitted by a previous owner and it's not a factory VW fitting.
Anyone have any idea what this might be? I'm thinking some sort of immobiliser or tracker? If anyone does know what it is, is it safe to remove? It feels like I could just pull it out but I don't want to incase it means my engine won't start or something along those lines.
Cheers.

It's a turbo boost button. Much like the one in KITT. If you press the green button you get a sudden burst of speed and you can jump over bridges and other obstacles.

Bloody brilliant, but not very helpful!
Re: Unknown device in my scirocco.
I would've told the dealer to remove it or it's no sale. Little point in buying a car and then addressing a problem yourself which should've been addressed before you bought it. Take it back and tell 'em it has to come out. Was it a VW approved used car?

Press the red button three time while saying "there is no place like home", and a tin man with no heart will appear; his name is David Cameron

Some of these replys Haha If it was me personally I'd be pulling bits of dash off and following the wiring to see where it goes it could well be a garden gate opener garage door etc it would annoy me not knowing though so the car would end up in bits as I'd want it gone if it's no use to me
