59 Plate S3 Front Brakes On A Rocco.

Fellas,

As I've got my old standard S3 brakes kicking around in the garage, will these be a straight swap onto my 15 plate R-Line? I Believe the Golf R, TTS, S3 and Rocco R all practically share the same chassis, so I'm assuming they all share the same brake calipers and disc size?

They'll need new discs and pads as they pretty much melted during a track day. So again, assuming I can order the S3 replacement disc and pads?

Not only will they fill out the 19" wheels a little more, but give me a bit better braking performance, as I'm used to the 6 pot Forge BBK kit I used to have!

Cheers

I'm trying to work out what to do with the brakes on my Roc as well.

S3 brakes, I don't think are any more special than those on the R, I don't think Audi brakes in that lineup get interesting until the RS3/TTRS calipers. At which point you'll need different discs.

My understanding is that the offset of the brake disc, required to keep it central in the caliper, is different on the TTRS/S3 brakes than it is on the standard scirocco.

You're probably better off keeping your existing setup, and just getting some nicer discs and pads.

The car is an R LINE and not an R mate. It's a 2Ltr TDI engine but with updated bumpers and exterior and that. So the brakes are fairly small and definitely not those off the R. The S3 brakes worked pretty well when the S3 was standard at 265bhp. So putting the brakes on the Rocco should be pretty sufficient for it once it has been mapped to 240bhp from 180bhp

yeah I guess for a lower powered car they will be an upgrade. I find the R brakes to be a bit chocolate! but that might just be crappy standard pads!

I found them to be fine on the Audi, but when I upgraded to stage 2 they literally melted on a track day haha.
Might upgrade and pay a little extra money for Brembo pads and discs for when they go in the Rocco

My R brakes melted on a brisk road drive!

It was rather brisk and I was trying to keep up with a Ferrari lol

Afte the first serious slow down I just didn't have any more stopping power. Just a spongy pedal and weak brakes

I had forge 6 pots on after the standard brakes melted and I didn't think much of them either.
Ok at lower speeds, but like you say, after a brisk drive they faded quite a bit

Like I've said though, should be sufficient for a diesel, as I'm not seeking huge power with this car haha
