RNS315 has integrated Bluetooth and DAB.

Only complication to fitting is that your car won't have the GPS antenna or the DAB antenna. You will probably need VCDS to code so that all the info appears on the MFD.

You may want to have a look at one of these Kenwood units if you want to remain OEM.

Only some RNS315 have DAB, and again only some have Bluetooth. Make sure you get one which has the features you want before parting with hard earned. DAB units have an extra black Fakra plug on the rear, and Bluetooth enabled units have a MAC address on the sticker on the side which has a string of random numbers. Any which have all zeros as a MAC address have no Bluetooth.

OEM DAB antenna amplifier that fits under the rear side card will set you back £70.00 so worth looking at alternatives.

Yeah they look like a better alternative don't they! But im guessing that they're going to be expensive? Any idea where i might be able to find a second hand one?

i looked around at the kenwood and from what i could see from other peoples comments is that it doesn't integrate into the car with the MFD and steering controls.

I ended up getting one of the android head units and so far so good. had no problems with any of it and it integrates into the car just like an OEM head unit.

Where did you get that from? and does it only work with android phones? Sorry to sound dumb, but the kenwood ones say that they do connect to the MFD?

The dnx525dab is specially made for vag cars. It fits perfectly. It has the on screen climatronics, pdc, camera. Also steering wheel controls work, and mfa display also. Only with the pre 2010 models it will not always work. And you wil need a special cable from kenwood. CAW-KIMUN1 wicht cost 180 euro. The unit works with iphone and Android. It's also possible to control your phone with the touchscreen of the radio. You will need an extra cable for that to work.

With the Kenwood DNX525DAB and Kimun1 interface you have the turn by turn signs also working in your instrument cluster.
But you have to activate the Navigation screen in the installation list of module 19 - can gateway if you didn't have navigation installed already.
I checked 37 - Navigation and saved coding.
Now i have it all working, oem climatronic, pdc, camera, turn by turn signals and song titles in the mfd.
Also the steeringwheel control are working. Only the mute button is changed in a source select button of the radio. But if i tap the volume button it also mutes so i can live with that.

Any chance you could put up a link for the extra cables needed?

Im going to buy the Kenwood soon and want to make sure i have the right stuff.

Assume i need the use of vagcom to activate nav screen on mdf?

AJH,

It's better to ask Kenwood or your car audio dealer to determine what you exactly need. Maybe your car is slightly different then mine.
But i used the kimun1 canbus interface and the ccanvw1 wiring loom.

http://www.kenwood.eu/car/accessories/s ... AW-KIMUN1/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.kenwood.eu/car/accessories/s ... W-CCANVW1/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You also need a dab antenna amplifier, it a small loom. And you need an antenna/radio lead. They cost around 20 euro together.
I don't know if a Dab anttenna is included. I purchased a different kind of antenna, not the sticky thin thing.

When changing radio from oem to aftermarket the controller will not be reachable with vcds anymore.
You get a message Radio - cannot be reached.

It's possible to check navigation installed in the can gateway control module to see the turn by turn signals.
But you will get a message Navigation - cannot be reached if you do a full auto scan with vcds. And the compass will not work, maybe after a future update from kenwood.

The Kenwood radio can communicate with the car in one way. That's the choice you make when going aftermarket.
