My first post so go easy on me.
I bought a 2.0 tsi last week and next to the screen it has a 'Phone' button and it also has a phone button on the steering wheel .
After repeatedly pressing it, it was pretty obvious that it does nothing other than mute the radio.
After a bit of research, it seems that I need a 'VW Premium Phone Kit'.
For those who have this, is it worth me getting? It looks like I can get them on ebay from about £250 but then again it'll likely cost a fair bit to fit.

Re: VW Premium Phone Kit
If I recall correctly, the premium kit is not bluetooth, it was something to do with Nokia phones when the Rocco was first released.
What you need is the Bluetooth module kit, I bought mine brand new about a month ago for about £160 delivered and fitted it myself.
Carsystems is the seller I got mine from (and is recommended in the tutorial here), their website has been updated a little and the prices have changed slightly (possibly due to euro exchange rate), but the exact kit you need is: http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-k ... d1731.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This will give you bluetooth handsfree calling, A2DP music streaming, and new phone menu on your head unit (I assume you have the RNS510?).
However if you are fitting yourself, you will require VCDS basically just to tick the box to say you have bluetooth installed.

Thanks for the link, I was thinking of doing this.
I take it the microphone isn't installed by default?
How are you using the hands free calling?

Microphone is not installed by default, it is included in the bluetooth kit linked above however, just need to run the wire down from the roof console to behind the head unit.mrhirst wrote:Thanks for the link, I was thinking of doing this.

Not sure what you mean by how am I using it... I answer calls when they come through on the head unit and then I can speak through the microphone. Also adds a new menu when you press phone, which has a phone book, speed dial, recently phoned etc, from which you can call people from.
