Hi there, im fairly new to the forum. Im currently looking into buying an ex demo car from Volkswagen however its located in Cardiff and im all the way up in Glasgow. Looking through the brochure for the scirocco it would be fair to assume that the RCD510 is the standard head unit that comes with the car, however ive seen a few posts now on here and other forums about retrofitting one from an RCD310.
I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this as i'd rather buy a car which has the spec i was looking for rather than one thats going to cost me quite abit to retro fit parts to.
Cheers in advance,
Gary

Hi Gary
Any UK spec car comes supplied with a RCD510 as standard. A few foreign members I believe get the RCD310 fitted, but all UK cars get the RCD510 as standard.

to the forum!

Here in Norway the RCD 310 is standard. Cars are so expensive here, so they strip them down to lower prices. Almost everything is an extra. The only thing that's standard is Dual climate control..

Sciroccos in RSA start at GBP 25000. With that everything is standard (elec seats, leather etc) except taht we get the RCD310. Rip off considering car prices have shot up by GBP 8000 for the MK5 in the last year!

In the Netherlands, RCD310 is the default thing as well... but over here, you can't keep your RCD510's inside your car for long in certain area's...
